I met Peter in the 1970's when we became colleagues on the Pirelli Project. He worked for Wharton Cranes which had been taken over by the company I worked for, Dexion. Peter was a draughtsman at Wharton and I was the Project Engineer doing liaison with a German company whose cranes were to be manufactured by Wharton. We became good buddies throughout that project. After we both moved on we always kept in contact. I remember Peter telling me that he was regarded as the Black Sheep of the family for choosing to be a draughtsman instead of a Civil Servant. However he went on to greater success elsewhere both in business and family life. Sadly I never got to play a round of golf with him. That lovely Baritone voice will enhance God's Choir.
